Bob the Basset Hound

A side view of a sturdy basset hound

Bob appears as if he constantly needs to pull up his socks. If he were human, his saggy face and long hanging ears might score him a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live as Debbie Downer’s brother, Dave.

No worries. Bassets are known for being gentle and non-confrontational with the ability to house a stubborn streak. They are friendly with children, pets, and adults.

Bob and his breed gain weight easily so a good dose of daily exercise is important.

And all those cute wrinkles? They are there to hold the scent so he can find whatever he’s after. And those cute wrinkles? They’ll need weekly swabbing/washing. But those ears! They hold the world record for longest ears on a dog. Oh, those adorable ears! They’ll need weekly cleaning.

Energy level: low
Exercise level: low
